I. INTRODUCTION
Dear reader,
This is a little place for fiction, poetry, essays, and art. We like work that stays with us afterwards.
Our first issue has no theme. You don't have to write about Kafka. That's simply the person we're addressing.
Dear Kafka is edited by Majesté Sinclair. It is a small, independent home for writing and art that might not quite belong anywhere else.
Issue no. 1 / submissions open
II. A PERSONAL LETTER
To Franz, with love.
I've named a magazine after you, which is the most romantic of things I’ve ever done—had you named one after me, I would’ve wed you.
III. WRITING
Portrait of Miss Franny
fiction by Majesté Sinclair · excerpt from a work in progress
He sat and looked at me. His eyes moved over me painfully slowly, feature by feature. My nose, my mouth, my cheeks, the space between my brows.
IV. READING NOTES
On Kafka
Franz Kafka (1883–1924) was born in Prague and spent much of his working life in insurance. His stories make ordinary things feel strange; his letters and diaries let us glimpse the person behind them.
